Having read the very negative review on your website, I was ready to cancel my booking but my children had recommended you very highly so I decided to trust their judgment. I am so pleased I did as we all had the most enjoyable meal (there were 8 of us plus a child altogether)
We would not hesitate to recommend you and hope to visit you again in the future. Including 3 bottles of wine, starters, main meals and desserts, the total bill was £273.35. A very fair charge for an excellent meal and good service.
A very pleasant evening

As an advocat of this restaurant prior to closure last year, I was looking forward to my birthday dinner with my family.
However I was so let down by what I received I'm not sure if I will return in a hurry.
My starter of Scallops was unfortunately cold and had to be sent back. There were 3 scallops of various sizes so to make sure they were cold I cut the largest as well. Yes they were.
The second attempt was worse only 2 scallops one large one small. The large was cut in half so was only abour 2mm in thickness and about 2inches in diametre. I mentioned this and got the response that insulted my inteligence that all scallops do vary. well I know that but it they are large they are as deep as they are wide in the main. so at £8 I thought it was a bit stingy to say the lease.
The gentleman behind me had 3 very nice ones so their onsistence is not good either and I felt I'd been done
Venison- a firm favourite of mine, was the same. Only about 3oz cooked weight cut into 5 very thin slithers, with jus that was so minimal it had dried ont eh plate. The red cabbage and dauphinoise was ok, but I was still so huingry I could have chewed off my arm. That was £19 really not value at all and felt cheated out of my money.
We used to go there every occasion and have spent thousands of pounds there over hte years. I think they may have lost our custom.
They have also lost the fine dining side of things which they did very well before a complete change of staff. The menu is more gastro pub with Pies and busrgers added to the menue, well that's fine in the bar but not in the bisrto or the orangry, doesn't fit.
Hope they take the comments on board.
Our bill was £75 for 2 starters 3 main courses and a bottle of wine with 2 soft drinks and half a beer. Very expensive for not a lot of food at all and still hungry which was what I told the staff.
