A "gem" of a find, attractively situated on the shores of Lock Eck. A good base for exploring areas around Loch Fyne and Loch Lomond.
Enjoyed a "get a way from it all" one night stay. Very relaxing having a drink in the well stocked bar sitting beside a lovey open fire on a cold, wet night. Although not an extensive menu, dinner was attractively presented and tasty with home produce featuring.
Bedrooms cosy (no TVs a bonus!)and well positioned with lovely views over Loch Eck.
A good value hotel, worth trying out

A total gem. The 25th was our 3rd wedding anniversary and we were picked up in the vintage van. Our candlelit table was by the window overlooking the loch. The food was presented beautifully with fanastic attention to detail. I started with the Game Terrine with local oatcakes and husband and I both had the Tartan Chicken - Chicken breast stuffed with haggis and wrapped in bacon on a mound of fluffy mash served with seasonal vegatables - fanatastic. We were both too full to enjoy the delights of the pudding menu so had a irish coffee - again perfectly presented and no squirty cream in sight. The second chef took us home and suggested we try the venison next time. We loved the Coylet so much we returned on our last night in the area. We thought we would have just a light supper but then we saw moules on the menu and changed our minds. Again the table was delightfully laid, this time cozily put by the roaring fire. The moules were sublime. Small and sweet in a very fine marinere stock. As suggested we both went for the venison, artfully presented in a fan with a thick slice on black pudding in the middle and the whole cascading with summer fruits, raspberries, cherries, redcurrents and blackberries. A taste sensation. Again too full for pudding.
Fantastic food and very friendly staff. Not pretentious but proud of what they are achieving. Definately not one to be missed.
