very disappointing meal prawn platter should be listed as shrimps . meat and roast potatoes lovely but veg bordered on being raw and have never seen bread and butter pudding with big chunks of apricot in . When we were seated we were jammed in a corner and had to try and attract the attentions of waitresses as they flew past . to give them their dues they did change the dessert when asked and did take money off the bill when we complained .Lovely setting nice staff but were overstretched need a new chef .

Excellent food and impecable customer service. Have visited this restaurant many times and on previous occasions over the years have been somewhat disapointed, however feel there has been a noteable change (improvment) in food quality, customer service and importantly clientel.

Beautiful old pub but we were very dissapointed with both with the food (bland and over priced) and the customer service which was appaling, when we expressed our disappointment it was completely shrugged off and ignored. There is a very strange atmosphere in the pub, almost uptight and tense not very warming or comfortable. needless to say we will not be returning.

I ate lunch at the Old Greyhound today and was sadly disappointed, maybe it was an off day or I chose poorly? The soup was so salty it tasted of nothing else. I had salmon for a main course, described as having a mustard sauce, actually it arrived with an unpalatable cornflour/tastless white mass covering the salmon. A pleasant location and interior, but I would not recommend eating there!

My husband and I stayed at the Old Greyhound and found it to be a very lovely place, The staff were great and the Jokes that Dave told us were very amusing. My Husband grew up in the village, so going back there was a real treat for me to see.And have rebooked for this August/09. Look out Dave we are coming back loaded with Jokes of our own!! Keep up the good work, Cheers from Canada

We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to all the staff working on Christmas Day who produced and served such a wonderful meal. The food was beautifully cooked and presented and the serving staff were efficient and very friendly. The restaurant is sweet and just the right size for an intimate meal or a family meal. We enjoyed our selves immensely and intend to book for the Valentines meal soon.

Stayed for 1 night at this establishment, on entering the twin bedded room it was nice to see that it looked alright, a bit dated and the furniture getting to be a bit tatty. I was surprised to see that the bathroom window did not have any privacy blind up, ok we were upstairs and the glass was obscure but with the light on you could still see the shadow of somebody in there, also there was not any complimentary small bottles of shower gel. I went to make a hot drink only to find that the cups were not clean, lipstick still on the rim from the last occupant I think, and no milk, only tea or coffee whitener, and no coffee only tea, when I mentioned this to a member of staff they did make sure that we got clean cups and some milk. The beds were comfortable enough but my duvet cover had holes in it. Breakfast was very very disappointing, we had the full English, it was obviously all thrown in the fryer, the bacon was too crispy, the sausage was far too spicy for a breakfast, and the mushrooms, well they were totally fried to a crisp so much so that they were black and not really much left of them at all, the only saving grace was that my poached egg was cooked perfectly. Overall I would say that the staff were very friendly, but the management need to pay attention to the small details to make the stay much more comfortable, I loved the position of the Old Greyhound in the village setting, it is nice and peaceful, would I stay there again, maybe, but it would not be my first choice.

I am not sure of the mental state of the reviewer previously but it would appear he has an axe to grind. I myself have never stayed at the Old greyhound but I use it regularly as a pub and eating establishment, I also have recommended it to customers that visit our factory who need accommodation and have never had a negative comment or feedback. It is always a friendly venue and people are always made welcome both in the bar and restaurant. Its clean, comfortable and value for money and I believe you can not ask for more without paying exorbitant rates.

In my opinion the restaurant is trying to be somthing its not.I feel that Leicestershire is not the place for a cordon bleu menu! Food was also over priced and in my opinion very over the top. I found the place to be pretentious and incredibly cliquey. accommodation is basic and not very private.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Old Greyhound. This could have been due to very comfortable rooms, delicious food or welcoming staff, or just a combination of it all. I definately recommend this place and I hope I get to stay there again.

the offending review in your case is not by an ex member of staff. the gentleman in question mr ward 16.12.07 made a complaint to me about not having enough to eat, i bought him a bottle of champagne to sweeten the situation, he made no other complaints whatsoever,i challenge his sweeping overall review, his allegations are unfounded, just sour grapes yours david manager

Just want to say a huge thank you to the Greyhound for a really enjoyable evening. Our meal was excellent, well cooked and plenty to eat and the staff really friendly and welcoming. We had a look at the accommodation on behalf of friends and would thoroughly recommend. Lovely freshly decorated rooms, clean and warm.

Rooms overpriced and in need of maintenance, meat reasonably cooked, veg soggy and not much of it! The old Greyhound Inn is a place to be avoided.
