Travellend with a line dancing group of friends from Bury on a 2day Coach holiday River in the sky tour. We had no comlaints, Service very good Food well cooked a good choice menu. dinning room staff work hard to serve everyone and food hot and plentiful, Rooms clean and beds comfortable, everything worked! Even enjoyed the little man who played his accordian for our evening entertainment, a refreshing change to bingo! The area is beautiful, and the coach driver did an excellent job manovering through the narrow streets, None of our party had any complaints, We will be back

Good Points: All the staff are really helpful and very accommodating, providing excellent customer service. Bad Points: The hotel could do with a face-lift - the floors are very creaky and the decor is outdated. The tables for 4 in the dining room are very small and, in my opinion, should only be for 2 - larger tables needed. General review: Overall, it was a pleasant stay and, whilst there is nothing wrong with the hotel and it provides good value for money, it could do with a little updating. The customer service of all the staff is excellent.

Two positive points: the bedroom was large and it was warm. All the other points are negatives. There are too many to rehearse but here's a few. The food was appalling and very similar to school meals in the 1950s. Most of the dinners seemed to be from a freezer or a tin. My wife had a piece of the plastic wrapping from the profiteroles in her dish. The bed was short and was made up with light brown blankets and sheets. There wasn't a duvet. If you want an impression of the bedroom furniture think of Eastern Europe in the early 1960s. The decor was scruffy and grubby. The public rooms were tired and starlingly old fashioned. The service in restaurant was desperately poor. The young waiters meant well but hadn't a clue how to serve at table. For example when my cup was placed it was held at the rim by all five fingers. My glass was held similarly at the bar. Overall I'd say this was by far the worst hotel I've stayed in during the last thirty years. How it manages to keep going is beyond me.

I stayed at the Glen Usk with aparty of 30+ people and the hotel was first class. The staff was a mixture of local and European - all spoke perfectly good English and were polite and helpful at all times. The food in the restaurant was excellent with a large choice and quickly served. The accommodation was traditional and very comfortable. An excellent base for visiting the area. DO NOT BE PUT OFF BY THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON THIS SITE.

My wife and I stayed at the Glen Usk Hotel with a coach party, on arrival the hotel looks very unappealing with crumbling ironwork and a neglected front area. Inside our impression was that it was dirty, neglected and badly in need of refurbishment, the seats in the bar and lounge area were dirty, shabby and covered in greasy wear marks. Our room had peeling wallpaper and an ominous jagged crack which ran from floor to ceiling adjacent to the bay window giving one the impression that the the bay window was falling away from the building. The food that was served during our stay was in our opinion of generally poor quality and not very palatable and portion sizes were meagre. The dining room was staffed with a number of girls who came from mainland europe, they struggled with english and were constantly shouted at, bullied and humiliated in front of the guests in the dining room, we found this behaviour totally unacceptable and extremely embarrassing. Our overall impression was that the hotel was badly neglected and desperately in need of refurbishment and I certainly couldn't recommend it as a place to stay.

Good Points: Very spacious bedroom with en-suite facilities. Spacious lounge areas Bad Points: Cosmetically the room needed updating General Review: The hotel was better than my expectations. I knew the parking was limited, and sometimes it was difficult. However, the staff were very helpful in this respect. It was chosen for convenience to the County Hall and Public Record Office. The staff were very welcoming and efficient.

Received a warm welcome from the freindly staff,we had a very comfortable double room which overlooked the gardens. The dining room was very comfortable and offered a Table-Hote menu with an excellent variety to choose from together with a moderately priced wine list.

We picked this hotel from a list we recieved from sky television, to say we were disappointed would be a total understatement. The picture on the internet is utterly misleading. The hotel is so scruffy both the outside and the inside. The room that we were allocated was on 2nd floor had a sloping floor with a large gap the the main door. The toilet system sound as if a boeing 747 was landing. The bed was so uncomfortable that we had very little sleep. We checked in at about 8.30pm on friday and checked out at 8.30am Saturday morning even though we had a two night voucher given to us by sky. We would not recommend any self respecting person to stay at this hovel.
