Been going there roe years, on this day, spend over fifty pounds, was absolutely not worth the money, never went for a child's meal, we never got what we ordered, and abserved other people's plates, poor value, any suggestions for Christmas, because it won't definitely won't be here

What a disapointment after all I had read and all the ravings that I had heard was very disapointed the food was not to the standard that I am used to in the public houses that I eat and at a much lower price than the failand will not be visiting again. The one plus that they have is that they allow you to take your dogs in.

Visited on a Saturday evening and unfortunately had the most awful experience that I felt I needed to write a review in the hope that the staff may take note (even though I will certainly never return).
I understand a Saturday night will be busy but waiting 45 minutes between courses including a 30 minute wait for our plates to be cleared is not acceptable.
We had called to book in advance asking for a quiet table as we were taking my 90 year old Gran so they seated us in the conservatory. It's really nice that families with children are welcome but not the quiet space we had specifically asked for and it was very hard to have a conversation.
I'm not sure that either of these things alone would have prompted me to write a review but the attitude of the Manageress when we brought this to her attention was unbelievable.
A few quotes "I'm not a mind reader" when we enquiried why we had been put in the family room after asking for a quiet place. And "I knew you would complain from the minute you walked in here". Offering no explanation or apology for the slow service, just that it's what we should expect on a Saturday night!
I've worked in restaurants myself, I understand its a stressful job on a busy Saturday night and things don't always run smoothly but the way in which you deal with any issues separate a positive experience and extremely negative experience for customers.
I would suggest the Manageress invest in some people skills training.

Food, beer and service was excellent - chicken curry + roast chicken ordered. The popularity of the pub speaks for itself.
Can't wait for the next time.

Booked this pub for dads 8oth birthday and a table for 12.
Food was great, except for the fish and chips, as batter was over cooked but the service not so. There was one waitress and bringing 2 meals at a time and slowly, the first to be served were finished by the time the last people had their meals! We would have returned the fish but would have had a longer wait and not eaten together! There was a long gap between main meal and pudding.
Such a shame, as its a lovely place and have never had trouble there before, but never gone in big numbers.

Took a group of friends to the inn after an earlier visit with another group of friends just before Christmas.
The earlier visit was on a Sunday lunchtime. There isnt a carvery, but the meal is delivered,in our case within 15 minutes of ordering, and it was delicious.Five roasts and a vegetarian
meal were totally enjoyed, and the sweets were to good not to try.
On the second visit, we had invited four friends, and again there was nothing but praise for the meals put in front of us.
We had to wait a bit, which was no problem as we found plenty to talk about. The pub was heaving with people dining.
The previous day we had popped in at lunch time on the way back from Bristol.
A prawn bagette between two of us was more than adequate. The inn does a separate lunch time menu, and everytime we have passed the pub at lunchtime the carpark has been full...and its a big carpark.
The couple of time we have been in for a drink and something to eat at this time, the pub has been alive with people having lunch.
Service has always been good. A good pint is served.
A pub as busy as this must have something to offer

What an amazing place! We arranged to hold my parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary meal here. My parents chose it, but i have to be honest, i didnt think it would be special enough, no disrespect, but its a pub at the end of the day and i had envisioned a nice restaurant. How wrong could i have been!!! Nothing was too much trouble for these people. We wanted to decorate our own table, so they arranged it so we could, gave us a small table for the cake, answered our many phone calls with patience and cheerfulness and on the actual night, it surpassed everything for my parents and i am so grateful. The waiting staff were great, everything was perfect. So thank you Failand Inn for your positive comments about how wonderful the table looked, for being patient with us, for not making us wait, for great food and for making my parents' evening so very special. Thank you from all 15 of us!!!

On our arrival at the Pub, I asked the Barman where we were seated for our Christmas Dinner, He looked at a book behind the bar and said, In there mate.
After pushing our way through the crowded bar, We found our seat by a door used for Smoking customers. Every customer who was going to smoke had to push past my chair, then open the door which in turn let a blast of freezing air. Also the serving staff used this door to convey food to the waiting customers, more cold air.
After sitting down and waiting for 25 minutes no one approached our table to ask would we like service. My Wife collared a waitress walking past, and asked her what we have to do to get served, 10 minutes later our starters arrived. After we finished our starters we had to wait 45 minutes to get served our main course, then we had to badger the passing waiter/waitress which fell on deaf ears.
During our meal we observed dogs running around, and one in particular the kitchen staff liked because they came out and got down on their knees and stroked this dog (hygene)
We had our deserts but the tea/coffee never arrived. No staff asked us was our food ok, or did they ask us would we like anything with our dinner (water Wine etc:).
Sorry folks 2 out of 10 for a sit down meal at £55 per head

No it's not fine dining and full-on service but it is wholesome food, good quality, big menu choice and very friendly service all at sensible prices. Just what a country food pub should be.

Just what a country pub should be like....we stopped at the Failand inn yesterday quite by chance and were very impressed by both the standard of the food and the service...a great little pub with plenty of room and parking. The staff were very friendly and the whole experience was first class. It was well worth the visit and a good find...excellent and happy to recommend.

As far as i can tell Pete may have an axe to grind. I have eaten here many times and have nothing bad to say about the place at all. Service is excellent, staff always friendly and i have nothing but praise for this establishment.

Just had a really good meal with my family. I have eaten at the Failand Inn many times before and have not had a single bad meal. Judging by the number of people eating there today, I'm not the only one who is pleased.
