This isn't a review as I have never been to the Woolpack Inn however I really want to and this the reason I am writing. This inn was in my family from 1851 to about 1910 when it was purchased by John Sadd (wife, Rosamond Banham)in 1851 and then his daughter, Edith (Sadd) Hubbard managed it for her parents, finally moving to the Woolpack when they died. Then my gr-grandfather, Horace Holdgate and his wife, Edith's daughter, Mary Elizabeth Hubbard owned it from 1901 to about 1910 (Horace died in 1908) when my gr-grandmother sold it along with the farm house and 135 acres of farm land. My grandfather, Herbert Henry Holdgate [1894-1977] and his older brother, Stuart, and 2 younger sisters, Violet and Laura, were all born at the Woolpack. This branch of the Holdgate/Hubbard clan immigrated to Montreal, quebec, Canada ... and I have been researching these families for over 10 years. I am planning a trip to this part of England; King's Lynn, West Walton, Terrington St John & St Clement, Wereham, etc. and I would think your inn would be a good place to stay as you're close, or rather close, to most of these villages. Since your establishment is still called an inn, I am presuming you have rooms to reserve for a few nights. I thought this was the simpliest way to contact you rather than telephoning from Canada or 'snail mail'. Would someone be able to get back to me by email? I would like to know the costs and a bit about the transportation around but I can lok that up. My apoligies for taking up so much room however I wanted you to know why I REALLY want to stay at the Woolpack. I also have some pictures of the Holdgates when living at the inn as well as 2 old pictures of it ... if you would like to have. Thank you so much to entertainning this letter. Kind regards, Heather Holdgate Whitby, Ontario, Canada

I dropped in for an evening meal with my daughter after a day out. We were both very pleased with our food. I had the a gammon steak. the plates were very well presented. simple good quality Pub food and plenty of it. the value for money is excellent, I just managed to finish my plate full but there was no way i had room for a desert. talking to the waitress I did find out that the Pub has recently changed hands. i would recommend the Pub to anyone looking for an excellent quality, good value Pub meal

Booked table for 4 at 7pm. Arrived and were only people in restaurant, not even the lights were turned on. Should of realised that it wad not going well. The food took forever to arrive, it was mediocre to say the least. I had the smallest 12oz steak ever. We asked for some mayo and had nearly finished eating when it arrived. We ordered dessert and drinkd, after 30 minutes I went to the bar to get the drinks and see where the desserts were. I collected the drinks myself and the desserts arrived. The whole experience is one I have no intention of repeating. The service is attrocious the food is mediocrw and we were charged for drinks we did not have! I strongly advise you to eat elaewhere.

Although my friend and I enjoyed our lunch we both objected to being handed a menu with the comment 'Here is the menu for elderly people.' Although neither of us is in the first flush of youth we don't appreciate having our faces rubbed in it. Maybe you should instruct your staff on how to be tactful
