Me my mother and father went for Sunday lunch today. We plumped for three main courses, two beef and one chicken .We ordered drinks which arrived after the meal was served...however this was not our main concern...My mum couldnt touch the beef she said it smelt and was extremely tough...nor could my dad who is believe me NOT a fussy eater...As for my chicken it was rancid i feel it was a very inferior piece of chicken...As for the veggies the waitress gave us a small turine for three people...one hard potato and an undercooked roast potato..I felt incensed and had to complain as the meals were 5.95 each.. I told a woman who was serving the food and she said she'd had no complaints (how convenient) but in fairness i told her we werent going to pay she didnt question it...whoever at this present time is the chef he or she should be sacked and not allowed to practice their cooking skills on the general public ever again...an aggreived family from stanley...

Upon recommendation from friends I booked a table at the Three Horse Shoes for 7:30 on Friday night.
On arriving we were warmly greeted and asked where we would like sit (It was pointed out that all Dining Areas are No Smoking).
On opting for the more intimate surroundings of the Conservatory, we were handed our menus and shown the specials board. We were then shown to our table and our drinks order taken (On talking to the Landlady afterwards, this is the level of service they are striving to provide although it is not always possible during very busy times).
After a few minute the waitress returned with our drinks and proceeded to take our food order.
I order the small sirloin steak (12oz!) and asked for it medium rare, whilst my wife order the Chicken Veronique from the specials board. (Chicken Breast filled with stuffing, wrapped in a bacon blanket and served with a butter cream sauce and grapes).
The meals arrived, with the vegetables served seperate. The steak was cooked to perfection and my wife was very impressed with both the presentation and taste of the chicken.
Unfortunately, we did not get a chance to sample the desserts on offer as we were unable to eat another thing after the main course. So much for the 'small' steak!!
We then decided to retire back to the bar for another couple of drinks.
There another pleasant surprise awaited us. Friday night is Music Night, tonight was Dave Black and what a night it turned out to be. We were enjoying ourselves so much that a taxi was booked and we settled back into our seats for a very enjoyable evening.
On leaving we paid our bill (less than £40, with free entertainment) and made a mental note of music coming on over the next few weeks.
The Three Horse Shoes is definately a place to be recommended, and we will be back there very soon.
