This pub has recently been taken over. I booked my 40th birtday party there after being let down elsewhere. We only had 48hrs notice to find somewhere else. Dave & nicky were very accomodating and the night was a great success. This couple went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. The food was excellent, we were allowed to decorate the place, service was excellent and couldnt of asked for a better night with such a lovely couple. Thanks Dave & Nick, cant believe you pulled if off in such short notice. Brilliant.

My family and my sisters family turned up at the Swan in Bideford tonight to celebrate our mum's 80th birthday. This had been booked some two weeks in advance, a cake had been arranged with the chef and the table arranged to eb decorated to make this a little secial. The only problem was when we turned up the pub was shut, we knocked on the door but no reply. The curtains were shut which rang alarms bells. We enquired at the Royal and were told that the pub was shut and had gone bust or somthing !!!! I have to say the Royal pulled out the stops and catered for us and made a disaster into a really nice meal, time and birthday.
