The Talbot Inn known to locals as the No 1, is a traditional ale house, which was originally a bonded warehouse of the 18th Century. On the corner of the building is a Tome Stone, originally set in the market square. This is where deals were struck. Tome Stones are also referred to as 'nails' hence the expression "pay on the nail". You can enjoy low cost drinks here, now without the traditional smoke, and listen to an eclectic mix of music on the juke box.
