i do have a lot of memories of the matapan from 1961 to 1963 , it was run by joan and bill kubillius the lived over head there was a great dart team , and and dart leauge ,custemers trip,s to south end ,on sunday,s they would sell cockles and mussles outside of the public bar , also a sad note one evening we were opening at 5.30pm when heard over the radio that jfk was shot in dallas tx there were also charcathers by the name of cocktail ivy , snitch , gladace, and more i cant remember , i was a youn bartender of eighteen years from dublin ireland ,the matapan and joan and bill kubillus and the custemers have been fond memories for me over the years , the pub was owned at that time by jtdavies of russel sguare london , i have been in the u.s. for now 38years and the memories are as clear as a bell of the matapan
