This used to be a quality pub with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Since the new management took over (late 2007) it has been refurbed to resemble a modern pub-nothing wrong with a refurb at all except it is now all neutral colours and very bright spotlights-no pictures, personal touches like traditional british pubs have. The type of drinkers used to be varied too, a mixture of ages but now the place is usually 70% 18-21 year old chavs (some that look too young to be in there) and 30% 21-70+ year old. This pub has very few regulars compared what it did have a few years ago. The management seem to be aiming for a younger crowd. I am a bloke in my mid 30's so am not opposed to teenagers, its just that the curlew used to have a mixed varied aged crowd and if I wanted to be around a crowd of alcopop teenagers I'd go to Jaydeez!!
