during my stay at the buchanan arms hotel i was very disappointed at the way the place was being run and this heavily effected my visit. for starters the general manager seemed utterly clueless she was walking about the conservatory area wairing knee high boots, a long coat and a winter scarf wrapped around her neck. she was giving one waiter hassel for going to collect food that i had ordered just 10 minutes previously making the young man feel understandably embarrased and annoyed. from then things got worse all seeming to stem from the shambles that is the management team at the buchanan arms hotel..i would not recommend anyone goes until the management issues are sorted

We were fortunate to have both our daughters home at the weekend to visit their father, who is recovering from a very bad fall. Out for the afternoon, we stopped at the Buchanan Arms for a lunch break. We arrived around 2.20 and enquired at reception if food was still being served. The "hostile" reply was yes in the bar. Our order for drinks was taken quickly and served following by our food order. The waitress explained there would be a 10 minute wait for the food. 30 minutes later we queried the delay whereupon 2 orders were delivered with two side order of fries. 45 minutes later, we were still waiting on my own and my husband's order and at that point decided to leave. Given that the order was for 1 baguette, 1 toasted sandwich, 1 prawn sandwich and a chicken & bacon toasted sandwich I am at a loss why it took so long. It wasn't peak lunch hour, the bar was only 1/3 full. I suggest a review is made of staff levels and certainly ensure a chef is in the kitchen. The food that was served didn't appear to have been prepared by a professional.

My mother and I had to arrange a wedding reception for my brother and his (now) wife. This was done with a lot of help from Colin Henderson (events coordinator). Colin was going between ourselves and my brother in Germany and the service provided by Colin and the Hotel was first class. The wedding took place on Saturday 16 April 2005 without a hitch. The hotel was beautiful, staff very pleasant and rooms lovely. The suite where the reception was held was gorgeous, laid out perfectly and the meal was first class. The entertainment afterwards was also first class. The guest who came over from Germany also commented on what a brilliant day they had and how lovely the hotel was. I would receommend the Buchanan Arms Hotel to anyone the service was first class and ambience fantastic. Well done.
