At first site just another side street pub - and it is except....
The landlord keeps an excellent cellar
It's a freehouse and the guest beers are pretty excellent - the Daffy's Elixir on the day was superb
£1.80 a pint - beat that (other than Wetherspoons but we're talking about proper pubs here). Soft drinks (tap) about a quid.
Good atmosphere and you can get chatting to pretty much anyone, but they'll leave you alone too, if you don't (OK I'm sur ethe usual pub bores are around if you look)
Kids are tolerated if they behave and there's a (rather)small garden for them to play in. But they'll be barred if they misbehave (a girl of 3 was barred last week for shoving stuff down the pool table pockets. Our kids love it.
There's big screen TV and darts if you want them.
To sum up, this is the sort of basic traditional pub I thought had disappeared years ago. It's not flash, it's not fancy but if youwant good, cheap beer and realise how good simple things can be, try it.
