Very Good. Nice fires. Great staff. Good real Ale. Obviously changed since the first review. Relaxed place, but friendly. Did I say it's got a great chef?

The place was recommended by a friend. I was not disappointed. Very nice attentive staff, and excellent food. The chef is great, the atmosphere good and the mood friendly and relaxed. A slight wait for food, but they were obviously very busy. The bar has been modernised, but still has character. My only thought is that I should have booked! Apparently has very nice rooms upstairs. Highly recommend, will definately visit again. AAA+++

The food produced at this pub is very good. Clearly they have an excellent chef. The pub has had a recent referbishment which has been well done.
Personally I will never eat here again however as the service is appalling. No welcome, a very long wait to be seated dispite booking, no communication from the waiting staff, we had to ask to order after another long wait, no ice in the water, no glasses to drink from (we had to ask for these) no cutlery between courses (We had to ask for this to eat our main meal),no care for the customer.
We should have complained more at the time but as we were out to celebrate my sister's birthday and no one wanted to ruin her evening. Our feelings were reflected in the lack of tip!
The good food could not make up for the lack of service and I am afraid that I have been treated better in the local Harvester! A potentially good evening in a potentially good place but the surroundings flatter to deceive.
