I ate at this pub on the evening of 4h November 2009. It was not busy. I had (as the menu describes): Breaded Mushrooms (v) Slices of flat mushrooms coated in breadcrumbs, deep fried & served with tangy BBQ dip. In fact it consisted mainly of heavy / stodgy bread crust containing very small peices of mushroom swimming in watery cooking liquor (and a splodge of ketchup in a tiny paper cup!) For the main I had British Steak & Ale Pie described by the menu as a wedge of pie served with carrots, peas & chips, all smothered in gravy. Once again this very poor and certainly nothing like the picture on the menu and website. There was hardly any meat in the pie and what there was was was tough. The outer edge of the crust was piping hot whilst the inner portion was luke warm. The portion of chips was miniscule, the peas were swimming in water and the carrots were only just defrosted and cold. When I was asked the obligitory robotic question "was everything OK with your meal" I let them know my opinion and all the waitress could say was "I will pass that on for you." As you pay for your meal in advance it is even more difficult complain / pay for what you think the meal was actually worth. All in all an awful meal. I would advise anyone to try anywhere else before considering the Woolpack for food.

We went for Christmas dinner and we were all very very disappointed. Certainly not worth the money at all and would never recommend it to anyone else. I must say the beers were all perfect and would be hard to better the quality.A shame about the food as this will lose good customers
