DON'T EAT HERE, THEY CANT'T EVEN DO A CHEESE AND ONION TOASTIE, IT WAS A DISGRACE, A SHADOW OF IT'S FORMER SELF OF THE RUSHYFORD ARMS WITH GOOD FOOD. OH AND BY THE WAY CHECK YOUR CHANGE, I WAS CHARGED FOR SOMETHING I DID NOT HAVE.

Just returned from a 3 night stay. Great value for money. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. Good choice of food on the menu. Our bedroom was spotless. Didn't get a chance to use the swimming pool but it looked lovely. There is a regular bus service from outside the hotel into Durham. I hope to use this hotel again and I would definitely recommend it.

This hotel is excellent, we were in a party of four and we could not fault the friendliness of the staff or the well catered dining, the choice of meals was good and the portions were enough for all of us, the rooms were very clean and comfortable, I would recomende this hotel to anyone who likes a comfortable and homely atmosphere. We would all certainly stay at this hotel again. Well done shearings for yet again making our weekend break one to remember.

Stayed here 1 night for my partners birthday, just a short hop from home. We really liked it. We virtually had the pool to ourselves and it was clean and well looked after. The food was lovely and very nicely presented. I had apple crumble for dessert which could have been bog standard but was absolutely delicious! Room was nice and had everything you would need.
I like the individual aspect of hotels like this as so many now with the big 'chains' are almost identical to each other and thus lacking in atmosphere. Although a little creaky in places I felt this added to the experience! All the staff were nice too. I would go back.

Good Points: Has the facilities of hotels charging 2 or 3 times the price. clean recently refurbished bedroom. ie furniture & fittings, bedding of clean high quality. Good breakfast included in the rate, in a pleasnat restaurant at a bargain price.
Bad Points: Outside appearance is disappointing and detracts from the generally well decorated intorior and excellent facilities within.
General Review: My first impression when parking in the hotel car-park was 'this looks like a right old dump'. OK the building I think is a bit decrepid looking from the outside, but its is well decorated internally in the reception areas, bar etc, though the corridors are narrow and well-worn..as are the bedroom doors. However my room was very pleasent, decorated to a good standard and the bedding quite new and good quality..and the carpets were quite new. The bathroom was clean. The dining area is charaterful and the hotel clean throughout. The reception staff were excellent and friendly and there are excellent facilities (pool etc but I got too bladdered to use them), bar etc. With breakfast included in the price it was excellent value for money. I've stayed in 4 star hotels in London & abroad with £200 per night rack rates which on comparison are no better (perhaps even worse internally). I'd rather stay here than one of those clinical cloned travel inn/lodge days inn's characterless places..

I stayed at the Eden arms with a work colleague. We found the staff to be very friendly and welcoming and happy to help out from the moment we stepped through the door, nothing seemed too much trouble for them.
The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the food was exceptional.
We made full use of the lovely pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, the gym room looked well set up but we didn't use it.
I would advice anyone who needed to stay in Durham to stay at the Eden Arms. It was a pleasure to stay and a must to revisit.
