Good Points: what an enjoyable stay ,we had Fifi and Mimi to look us after booking us in plus the excellant evening meal and the friendly bar atmosphere, the breakfast experience was perfect ,all that was missing from our ello ello hotel was maybe a suitcase with radio hidden under the bedroom floor
Bad Points: Ifound very few bad points ,but maybe more light to the stairwell (my mother in law found the stairs hard to see and negotiate)maybe an upgrade to our room no4 electrics
General review: The hotel served its purpose fully ,we used it as a base to visit parts of the locallity which took us away for most of the day .But on our return we were embraced by the staff ( a bit like going to your aunties really )a very pleasant stay .My wife and Itook my mother inlaw on a nostalgic trip ( she was a Land army girl nearby ,some 70yrs ago her room overlooked the market square and with the leaded glass window sand large bedroom plus all her reguvinated memories we all could not have stayed at a more apt hotel .

Good Points: The hotel dining room was very good.
Bad Points: The room was cold. I had to get a blanket from my car. The toilet seat was broken and although I reported this nothing was done about it. The window of the room fitted badly and the radiator was covered by the bed in front of it. The stand alone electric heater in the room was smelly when switched on.

My partner and I booked the Black Boy Hotel, Sudbury via the internet, we were looking forward to a weekend trip away to relax and explore the surrounding area including a visit to nearby Dedham. I can only describe our experience of this hotel as an absolute joke. The room we were given was of such poor standard that we did not stay the night and unable to find alternative accommodation we ended up driving home feeling ripped off and very disappointed especially as we were still charged for the room! The room had not been cleaned properly we found a mobile phone on the floor in the room, the window was broken, the bed pushed into the corner and the toilet and shower were outside of the room down a corridor! We were charged £50 for this room, when I explained to the Manager our disappointment he did not seemed bothered at all.

Good Points: The Staff very helpful & courteous. Food was very good & reasonably priced. Rooms made available early, so that we could change - thank you.
Bad Points: No en-suite facilities and parking was cramped.
General Review: Hotel was nice and friendly and the Staff were very helpful and courteous. The Hotel was easily found (in main Square). Only downsides were lack of en-suite facilities and the cramped parking (although the car was safe on the main road at night). One negative comment was the noisy road cleaner early on Sunday morning (had been a market in the Square the previous day).

Good Points: Convenient location
Bad Points: See general review.
General Review: No ensuite facility to room. Small room size with frayed carpet. No easy facility to use kettle in room. Cracked basin in shower room. Beakfast overcooked and poorly presented.

My Partner and I were visiting friends in Sudbury, and were recommended the Black Boy as somewhere to stay although she had never been inside.
We booked in and arrived tired and in need of a shower on the Saturday.
Apart from the fact that we backed on the the car park and the bins, the room was freezing, and very basic. There were sweet wrappers behind and on the radiator and there was just a general air of it being unkept.
The only Toilet was shared and through a coridoor as was the shower.
We decided this is not what we were looking for and booked straight back out again. The Barman didn't seem to surprised.... but then he was still getting the money for the room anyway.
