Stopped here for coffee after a rainy day at local attraction.
Wasn't this the place that, years ago, had a romantic cherub-decorated restaurant in the front (or was I thinking of inn in Midhurst of the same name)?
Today? What a shocker! Still nice fireplace in front but over-modernised and cold decor - a bit like the coffee I had too!
What a disappointment; never again!

Me and my wife visited the angel after hearing how fantastic it has become. Well the steak and ale pie was the best ever and the homemade faggots are to die for. Sorry to say the service was very poor. We had to waite for the waitress to finish on her mobile befored sitting us. She came back 10mins later to take our order and told us all her personal problems and went on saying the manager is never there and the rest of the staff leave all the work to her.
We got our food put in front of us and that was the last we saw of her. We didn't get offerd sweets or drink. When I went to the gents just before we paid, well they smelt of urine, dirty floors, dity sinks and no hand towles.
When we paid we had to wait for the same waitress to finish her conversation with her friend on the sofa. Is this the new owner or ...?
How rude and lazy, she should go work with basil.

This hotel has gone through a great transformation with fab fine dinning. The new owner really knows how to entertain.
I look forward to staying again.
Nathan
