Good Points: Warm welcome, spotlessly clean and atmosphere very relaxed. I will recommend to friends and family. Would have liked a sea view but the hotel was booked solid.
Bad Points: Breakfast took quite a while coming but was very good.
General review: Lovely hotel and staff, very hospitable and friendly.

Ty'r Craig Castle Hotel may not be the cheapest of accommodation in Barmouth, but it is certainly well worth paying the extra. We had a lovely couple of nights stay at the hotel. Whilst nothing much to look at from the road, the hotel comes into its own because of the atmospheric and comfortable interiors, and the views over the bay. Add to this the friendly and welcoming staff and top it off with delicious home-cooked food accompanied by not unreasonably priced drinks. Having had a quick look at a couple of the recommended/reviewed places to eat in Barmouth centre itself, we opted to eat at the hotel and were not disappointed. Prices were on a par with those advertised in the places we checked in the town - and the surroundings were much better!
One word of caution - if you don't like to walk far, it might be considered a bit of a trek from the hotel into town or to the beach and back, particularly as the return journey is uphill.
