I came with my family to try the new and improved Sunday lunch as the last one we had wasn't very good today it was absolutely lovely more roasts and new potatoes the vegetables weren't quite as hard and the Yorkshire puddings were lovely too.the staff were very attentive and polite we would like to thank the manager for improving the Sunday roasts keep up the good work we will return in the near future we do eat other meals from the menu which we have never found fault with Fran morley

Sea bass was cold, the veg were cold, the sauce was horrible and it came poured all over the fish (that was cold as well) with another jug of the same awful stuff on the plate. 4 potatoes served with the skins on (dark brown and with black bits on them)were inedible. Save your money there are far better pubs out there. Geoff

I took my family there for a meal on the Sunday evening and was very disappointed in the Service and the meal was disgusting. I understand its a 2 for 1 menu but you expect something decent to eat. The chicken was hard it had been mircowaved...hardley any chips BBQ ribs that came with it was just 2 ribs with alittle meat on it. The Sunday roast was awful, looked very bland we didn't bother with desert or coffee. We were never asked if our meal was alright just shoved in a room by ourselves, the staff came in to clear a table but never acknowledged us at all. Wouldn' t reccomend this as a good place to eat.

We go to the dog at least once a month and we went as part of a party of 18 including children, it was the worst meal ever and service was a disgrace, staff were abrupt no one had a clue what was going on, all orders came out separate, 3 of us didn't even get a meal as it was wrong, the children s meals came practically last except one, the biggest let down ever not one of us were impressed, also portions now are really small always been good value for money in past not one of the 18 will be returning

Always eat here about once a fortnight and pleased with every meal over about 4 years. Normally 10 out of 10 This evening had the Stilton steak. Nicely cooked but with a lot of gristle-poor cut. Stilton sauce had Port than stilton in it. Personally, spoilt the meal as Im not keen on drink in sauces and would have had a different meal if I had known. Strongly feel on the specials board it should be called port and stilton steak for those like myself who expected Stilton sauce. Will be happy to eat here again though will ask more questions about the meal I choose next time. The staff are always helpful and eager to please. Overall 9.5 out of 10.

Booked for fathers day in restaurant, was given table in bar. Had to order at bar instead of being waited on. Told them I had booked for restaurant never apologised. Meals came lettuce was wet, could not eat, other meal was dry no gavy on meat or veg. Asked if everything was ok, said no and told them why, then when another waitress came to fetch plates, looking at the food that was left asked if everything was ok, said no and told her too what was wrong, she said she would pass our comments on. Never heard anymore. Will NOT be going again.

Was there for a second time and must say I have never ever experienced such a bad service. Had 2 for one, drinks and starters. Pasta was dried lumps done in microwave, garlic bread burned. When asked for exchange, the blond lady in charge has said to me it will be couple of minutes, but when my partners' dinner has nearly gone and mine still did not arrive, I asked for refund. Unfortunately as it was two for one, she could not give us money back. (offered coffe or cake)????!!!!! instead. I ended up having no dinner and no money back. Must say, all thanks to my partner who just did not want the hassle in public place. Instead me and him ended up having spoil evening. I have to say, my foot won`t step inside anymore. I would rather go hungry then be angry for the sake of not even £9. For me it is about the principals though. I am working in customer field for years, and do know rules. I am ashamed for this establishment.

we have visited the Dog several times on our days out in and around the surrounding area, what you see is what you get, yes we know that it is "pub grub" so we dont expect anything else, but what we have had has always been most enjoyable and superb value for money, the staff are polite and helpful, we went for chiristmas day lunch in 2008 and have booked again for this year,so obviously we have no serious complaints, my only gripe with the christmas lunch was echoing what a previous customer referred to, and that was that we were never offered our cheese and biscuits and we never got our mince pie and coffee, this year we will ask for these as they are clearly stated on the booking form and included in the price, and where as we did not feel particuarly rushed it was obvious that we were not expected to hang around at the end of the meal, and i feel that is why the finishing touches to the meal were never offerred. i worked for many years in the pub trade and you know when you enter into this kind of work that the hours are unsociable and awkward at times, but i also appreciate that the staff are entitled to enjoy their own christmas lunch. Also it is quite difficult to book, as you actually have to go into the pub to do so and bookings are not accepeted over the phone, we do not live locally and this is a little inconvenient as we actually had to make two visits to complete the booking. I am looking forward to our Christmas lunch again this year, and hope that the staff read the reviews and take note to improve on the slight errors from last year.

While the atmosphere is good and the beer enticing, the food is just awful! My chili, for example, cost £8.50 and was TINY. Its tasted adequate - which is more than I can say for the limp and floppy two meagre slices of garlic bread. I complained - to be told by the manager that it was not his fault: it was not made in house and they were standard servings. Oh, thats OK then! Two-for-one means that its still bad value. not recommended.

I was part of a party of 5 returning for the 2nd year running for our Xmas meal, what a disappointment compared to last year, the starter of prawn cocktails was a very meagre portion with the prawn cocktail sauce completely missing, served with 2 slices of brown bread with no butter supplied, the main meal was marginally better, but every on complained that the "pigs in blankets" were not cooked and the bacon was semi raw, a bit of cranberry sauce would have been nice with the turkey. I couldn't fault the sweet of Xmas pudding, then we were left sitting while tables were being cleared, we were never asked if anyone wanted cheese and biscuits, or a cup of coffee, so I had to ask the waitress for them, when it came what a disgrace compared to last year, It was served up on a dinner plate with all the cheeses mixed up one on top of another, no small plates where offered until I asked for them, the coffees were then "served" or actually just cups placed on the table without any saucers or spoons for the sugar, which I had to request once again. and at £40.00 a head no one even asked if our meal was OK, needless to say we will be looking elsewhere next year for our Xmas meal.

A lovely atmosphere, was welcomed by bar staff and sampled the local real ale which was superb. Allowed to chose table of liking and then after 5 minutes waitress took our order from the table. Menu choice was good with a large number of specials, all excellent value as it is now a 2 for 1 pub. I know what you are all thinking, microwave food!! But it was actually very tasty as I had a steak and my wife had chicken in a cheese sauce. Would recommend to all!!
