This pub has recently reopened. They serve excellent ales, including Timothy Taylors, and proper home cooked food. The pub is 1930s in style inside and with the exception of the odd florescent light largely unspoilt/modernised. The main bar is a bit smoky, but the snug is very cosy and nice. I would describe the menu as 'comfort food', all the old favourites there, home made and cooked well. Alison does the cooking, and there are no catering packs or frozen chips.
