Paula really has turned this pub around. Quality Beer and Quality Food. Couldn't grumble, the pubs always fairly busy and is now part of Birdwell again.

The last reviewer did a runner with his partner Debs,(landlady). The new landlady-Paula-is now gradually bringing back the pub to a real village pub, even if at times the volume gets a bit loud. Beer, real & comercial is normally good. I've not eaten yet, but reports are the meals are good in quality & value. Quiz nights are great on Sunday & Thursday. Kids playground & 'beer garden' at the rear of pub. Location can easily be missed - off M1 at J36, take A61 to Barnsley, turn left off A61N at Obilisk, then 1st. left.

Here is a review, yes 1928,i was born maybe 300 yards just up the road, from the Cock inn, where i had my first taste of beer, playing with my Pal george Eastwood, nephew of the then Landlord Mr Eastwood,Ok,it was only what was left in the Bottles in the Crates left outside, was enough to break me in,and get me drunk one day ,at the Back of the pub they had Poultry, and me and geaorge, one day went beserk in the Chicken pen sling birds about, not realising we were missing,(not presumed Pee,ed)i still remeber half the women of the Village looking for just up the Hill on Chapel street.also Mrs Parrot, who lived next to my Granny on Sheff road,Loved her BURTON,i used to fetch a Quart bottle every week, when they used to stick o Label on the Stopper, and woe betide if the Label was unstuck,Oh and the wonderfull sledging track on Pilley hill.and a housed on Rockley lane tat sold Nettle beer.....i am 77 Now,im the only one left of my Generation,But for myself and them..GOD BLESS THE COCK INN and your Customers Cheers
