You don't need to have a southern accent to experience rude staff at this pub. I'm a yorkshire man and I have experienced the same,in fact I used to use the pub regularly. When I have complained I'm told I would be miserable if I worked there.

This was my second visit to The Red Lion. The first visit being in April also this year. It's nice to see this local pub enjoying a thriving live music scene. The pub has played host to many excellent live artists and continues to do so. As with my first visit I ordered food and drinks. My order was dealt with in a friendly and profesional manner. My meal was suberb as it was on my first visit. Very good value, I can recommend the generouse meat filled Yorkshire puddings! The staff were polite and helpful and the regulars very friendly.. The Red Lion is somwhere I can reccommend either for just a good pint of beer and food or to go along to one of the live music events in the evening.

The pub now is under new management, so please call in and meet Jamie the new landlord. Real ales and simple home cooked food made fresh every day.

None too impressed with this establishment - poor quality beer, rude and abrupt staff and a generally hostile atmoshpere. Maybe this is because I am not local to the area and having a southern accent may not have helped my cause. However, I still feel that a smile wouldn't have been too much to ask for. Disappointing after being recommended by a northern colleague.
