You want a drink, you want somewhere local thats not full of posers, not full of old people, fairly homely, and value for money.
My advice? Go to the Clyde! Although you'll be mistaken for a mad person if you say 'lets go to the clyde' and no one else knows the bar; you need to reassure them that you arent suggesting a swim in river! Which wouldnt be reccommended, as it wouldnt be so refreshing.
On a normal night, local taxi drivers sit around the main bar with their papers and drinking their pints, you're greeted with a friendly smile from the staff as you order your poisen of choice.
Various nights and events can be found, such as gigs to comedy nights which are usually on a Thursday, to club nights with dj's usually on a Saturday with special one off nights one a month or every second month.
The regulars are friendly, one a weeknight for example a friend and i were approached by one of the gentleman at the bar, and requested to see if we could solve a cryptic maths puzzle! Much fun was had and there was a laugh when he gave us the answer!
Unusual decoration, an extended bar and extended seating area in the back, its a bigger pub and a better pub for it.
My advice? If Eck is dj'ing, be as pleasant as possible when making a request and he may just play it for you. And if he does, show your appreciation with a little dance and a thumbs up in his direction!
