Good hotel with much character and in a lovely location. Definately recommend. Rooms are slightly dated but clean, tidy and a very good size. Staff are very helpful.

This is chocolate box Devon: thatched roof and manicured gardens. Perhaps a tad twee for that reason. The restaurant and bar, all chintz and beams, is cosy and the welcome warm and professional. The menu is not too crowded and the balance of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes is good. The prices too are exceptionally reasonable. Our wild mushroom starter was excellent and the between courses offering of soup or sorbet very pleasant. Alas the main course was a major disappointment. The duck breast was hard and flavourless. The dessert selection is good and the coffee excellent. Choice of wines also good. I'd be prepared to give this one another try as maybe the duck was a bad choice but I felt it was a pity the dinner was so patchy in quality.
