Can i ask you as a person who reviews everthing to make an efford to try sweeneys for yourselves On entering you are greeted with a warm welcome from bar staff,a warm fire and a menu that does not do the food justice [new chef} food was well presented hot and generous portions.they run a tea time special main course and pud for 10.95 I found it relaxing wholesome and generally an all round lovely experience.I live locally and am a bit tired of the wine bar etc having to wait 50 min to be seated then stuck on a stool after being told "you table is needed in 40 mins"Thus we have eaten there every week since. Bar staff greet us like family and chef does his best to please my fussy kids

£ of us called into Sweeney's Wine Bar today and found the food and the service to be excellent. We had been there before a few years back and found the same service etc but the girl who served us today did mention that they had been closed for a while and had only recently re-opened so maybe things have improved from the 2010 comments that show on this site

Never again!! Waited an hour for 2 bottles of wine to arrive and after an hour and a half of waiting for starters we asked how long they would be, and were told another 15 minutes. At this point we got up and walked out. The staff were unpleasant and did not even apoligise for the wait. They only had one cod left and it took them 20 minutes to come back and tell us there were no spring rolls left. No excuse, the place was empty!!!!

We had a disastrous experience at this place in April 2010 - steer well clear of it. We were warned of a delay in service but it was 2 hours before food arrived. One other table left without eating because of the delay and the other diners also complained. When we complained we were met with complete disinterest. It was clear that there was no one in authority running the place as the junior staff on site had to keep telephoning the owner for instructions as to how to deal with us. When the owner finally turned up after we demanded someone in authority we were met by nothing but disinterest and aggression. A diabolical place that I am surprised survives. Try the Bayview Hotel just up the road - the other end of the scale, brilliant Irish hospitality in ever department.

Nice place, pleasant service. Food disappointing, 3 out of 4 meals only average (if that). Roast shredded duck - came swimming in grease. Veg stir fry and chicken goujons overcooked and dry. Fillet steak however excellent. Would not go back.

My partner and I visited your restaurant on Fri 10 Aug 07 and found the food and service to be excellent. The staff were very helpful and there was a good atmosphere. The Country music downstairs was very good, we had a most enjoyable evening and could certainly recommend this restaurant.
