My wife and family went to this establisnment for a meal and were not pleased at all with the standard of food served. Ny wife had Cod and Scallops which were not good at all. The Scallops were under cooked to the point she refused to eat them. They did compliain to staff but it was brushed off. There was no offer of an apoligy or refund at all. To add insult my wife ended up ill that night and remained so until late the next day. The manager was contacted who was so unhelpful to the point of being rude, stating that she was ill because of what she had eaten at home!!! Again there was no apoligy or refund offer just a comment of inform the food standards if you want.
Not a nice experience and one which will not be had again. By the way Food standards will be informed. Thank you very much.

Very disappointed with the accomodation,apparently we had a booked a superior room but were given a very small standard room with no apology , explanation or offer of compensation.
The room had a chipboard wardrobe which was falling apart a double bed with stained counterpane , one bath robe with makeup around the collar . When you put your arm out of the bed you hit the wall , the wet paint sign in the window and the smell of gloss paint added to the excperience
I complained when paying the bill and got no rection what so ever.
Whilst the food was good as were the waiting staff ., it wasn't terrific.
Out of 10 food 7.5 accomodation out of 10 I would award 4.
Certainly the rooms shown on the virtual tour on the website do not resemble the one I thought we were getting

My wife and I along with her son visited Pier 36 on spec not having previously booked. On such a busy night we were able to have a table sitting straight away which was the only plus point that I could award to the resturant. My wife and her son ordered the roast Duck which seemed to be quite good however they later complained of thirst which would seem to be the result of the sauce being over salty. I on the other hand had the Sea Bream and seared Scallops along with a portion of stir fried vegetables.
I can say with certainty that I had a piece of Sea Bream which was the smallest portion that I have ever seen, I would guess weighing no more than 3 ounces and 3 Scallops. This was served along with a garnish of a few sauteed vegetables and 3 tiny potatoes, and I use the word garnish accurately since I had to order an additional side portion of vegetables. At over £15 does not ever qualify as value for money.
Unfortunately before I had a chance to complain on the spot, my wife's son had paid for the meal and therefore not in a position to let the management know my opinion. I will certainly not be frequenting Pier 36 again.

We are regulars in Pier 36 but the last few times have been disappointed. Now after the dreadful meal on Friday night we won't be back. The evening menu was very expensive and had little choice. I had duck which was tasteless nd overcooked with what seemed like marmalade on top. it was accompanied by sweet potato crisps and deep fried sage leaves. The sweet potato crisps were like tayto on a bad day, greasy,hard thin and totally pointless, there was nothing else on the plate, no veg or potatoes, just greasy sage leaves. thrown on.It was the worst food I have had in a long time and £14.95 into the bargain.I was still starving. My husband's steak was nice but overcooked and his rosti was stone cold.
When we said we were not happy, we were made to feel like it was our fault for not liking it and said 'well we like to do something different, sure the duck was nice' and then the waitress/manager turned her back on us.
We were mortified, had to pay and left. I have since emailed but did not even get a reply.
We will not be back which is a shame as we had been going for years,as a couple and a family and considered it to be one of our favourites.

Best known as a lovely pub with outstanding cuisine, Pier 36 is also an excellent place to stay. Its location, accommodation comforts, reasonable prices, plus the friendly professionalism of the proprietors and their staff make this a choice spot for anyone visiting the vicinity of Donaghadee or touring the Ards Peninsula.

This is a fantastic little pub with great food and service. I had a mixed grill which contains chicken,Fillet steak and prawns with homemade chips all made to perfection. The service too is great. Ive never met a friendlier bunch of workers in a restaurant.

Well, not wanting to be a wet week, but my experience was less than pleasurable.
We thought we would try it out as we wanted to try the menu so many of our friends had raved about.
Lets just say, it was far from what they had experienced.
I ordered the Mussels, which were totally tasteless and just sitting on top of a bowl of cream, then a steak, medium well done, however that was like shoe leather and very hard going on the teeth!! there was no atmosphere, and sadly, an experience we will not want to repeat.

Have been to Pier 36 quite a few times now. Overall, it's a great place to eat. BUT there's one thing that has really bugged me recently from recent experiences. It just seems that they do not know how to cook a steak. This unfortunately has led to the embarassing and awkward situation of sending the food back and having someone end up eating alone due to the fact everyone else has already finished while the problem was being sorted. It really should not be that difficult i.e. The differences between rare, medium-rare, medium and well-done.
Come on guys! Sort it out! On the other hand, their rival neighbouring restaurant Grace Neils has been perfect each time. So that's my suggestion if you like steak.

A real sanctuary on a wet and windy day, where I crept in soaked to the skin after a photography session along Donaghadee Harbour for a painter friend back home in Canada who needs some material for his image bank. The hot bowl of soup and delicious wheaten bread served as I sat near the roaring open fire in the pub section, worked like a treat! The friendly staff and delightfully whimsical surroundings made me ant to come back for dinner some time. The room upstairs with a view over the harbour would be a great place to stay for a night or two, not least because of the "en suite" jacuzzi I gather it has!! Definitely somewhere to recommend to my fellow Ulster emigrants on their return visits to the Oul' Sod.....keep up the grand work!

Hi
I was shocked at what this wee pub had to offer. It was a Wednesday night, live jazz was playing. Guiness was A+++. Ordered Surf and Turf - the best most tender fillet I have ever had along with locally caught prawns - First rate! My wife had Lobster Morney from the specials - Scrumptious. Food and Service was Excellent. Local owners very hospitable. Have planned to stay on the premises next time. B&B available with rooms overlooking Donaghadee Harbour. One of the most memorable dining experiences I've ever had!
