The Slaney Inn is a unique experience. It is located in one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland - if you like drumlins, this is the place. If you don't know what a drumlin is - well this is the place to find out.
The Slaney - I hope I'm not being rude here - has no aspiration towards rosette nor star - but rather toward a desire to please and feed.
The staff are uniformly friendly and polite. The food would not have lovers of haute cuisine in raptures - but it is good quality, presented well and by the holy beard of Saint Tassach you get a lot!
You can feed four people for the price of one meal in an up market London or Dublin restaurant.
My favourite is the tortilla wrap, stuffed with peppers, chicken et al but being served with mash and chips, carrots and cabbage
It is superb value for money, really fabulous country fare and the world would be sadder place without Eamonn and his tea towel.
If you want fancy pretentious decor and service - don't come here. But if you want great Irish food in a wonderful location where you are too busy marvelling at the amount of vegetables you get with your mains to look at the decor, then this is the place!
