Absolutely marvelous little place at Pennyghael between Craignure and Fionnphort with three little rooms and en-suite bathrooms with large showers. The bed in the room I stayed in was a little small (it could not have been bigger--otherwise the bathroom door would not have opened), but that (and the neon light instead of bulbs in the bathroom) was about the only quibble to be found. The fantastic view (directly over the Loch Scridain onto Ben Mor) through the huge window in the breakfast room makes sitting down at the table an event, overlooking daffodils in the garden. Whether you need lovely lunches packed for the walking tours (the Carsaig's Arches walk begins just a five minutes drive away from Craigrowan, the trip to Iona/Staffa is short... but then again nothing is too far away on Mull. Try to get Sue, the proprietress, to cook dinner for you... which currently is only 20 pounds per head. She is a phenomenal cook on an island spotted with highly mediocre (and generally over-prized) food establishments, none of which can be recommended. Going back to her home cooked three course meals was relief and delight every time.
