Reviews of Dereks Taxis, Dolgellau

Best rates for a Local Hotel

I'm afraid my experiences of Derek's Taxis are the complete opposite to the last review. Even though I was told by the 'firm' that they have 6 drivers, I was very badly let down twice by very abrupt people on the other end of the phone. My hotel was 4 miles outside of Dolgellau and relied on buses mostly. But when a bus was late which meant that I missed the 2nd bus from Dolgellau to hotel, I telephoned Derek's Taxis and was told that 'no means no.' No explanation why 7 drivers could not help me, no 'can you wait an hour' but a definite no. Though I prebooked a taxi to take me to the Railway Station with a heavy suitcase, when it didn't arrive I telephoned and again, I'm assuming this time it was Derek, was told 'No, I'm not coming out.' I had to walk the 4 miles into town to pick up a bus, adding an extra 2.5 hours on what was going to be a long journey home. This is no way to run a service! The staff in the hotel all laughed at me when I told them I was using the taxis as they know what this service is like. My advice; try and use the local bus routes because this so called taxi service is no service at all!

Best and most well-priced taxi service I've ever had. The taxi-driver was really nice and we had a pleasent drive with nice talks. He gave a lot of useful advices for our trip to us as well. He was very well informed and knew every place there. Thank you very much
