Good Points: Perfect location. House and grounds appealing. Exellent food.Staff friendly.
Bad Points: Service inconsistant. House lacked what its image offered.
General review: Great potential as a Country house hotel but lacked vision, a pity, for this could be a real gem.

Good Points: Quiet location
General review: I was upgraded from a single room to the bridal suite, this was useful as I was staying two nights and it was easier to do work with a sofa and chair to work in.

Good Points: Independant hotel in a quiet setting but still close to the city of Bury St Edmunds. The standard of food and the manner of the restaurant staff at the evening meal were superb.
Bad Points: Although the standard bedroom room was a very good size and had a wonderful view of the rear garden, the decoration was very tired and the carpet was grubby.
General Review: The attitude of the staff together with the superb evening meal and ideal setting more than made up for the disappointing decoration of the bedroom. It would have been useful to know, when booking, that the hotel had been booked for a wedding reception who in effect took over the entire hotel (any wish for a quiet/relaxed stay was out of the question). We would happily use the hotal again but would upgrade the room and confirm regarding any clash with group bookings.
