we had lunch at the restauant which was empty. We felt very unwelcome and although the menu looked good the food (when it came) was not good- small portions of meat, dried out new potatoes and about 20 sprouts! We will not be going back.

7 of us dined for Sunday lunch at your establishment last week and I would like to pass a few comments.
The view and location are spectacular and I had great expectations of a wonderful lunch. I was surprised on entering the restaurant that it was three quarters empty, as I would have thought that a Sunday Bank holiday weekend would be a very popular time.
We were greeted on arrival, which was fine and sat down to look at the menu. The set meal was the only option and at £18 ahead I was expecting high quality delicious food. When I initially saw the menu I couldn’t believe the choice of starters, prawn cocktail, melon boat, egg mayonnaise. Has this choice changed at all since the 80s? It was hardly inspiring. I was also disappointed that I had the choice of only two mediocre red wines. I would strongly advise changing the starter menu to reflect fresher more contemporary dishes. Prawn cocktail is fine for a café or pub, but at £18 a head I suspect your cliental would have higher expectations. Are the sole goujons frozen? Not much sole or taste there.
For the main course we all chose lamb, a mistake on two counts, it was extremely fatty and that I do not have another dish to compare with. The meat had no taste and I had more fat than lean. The vegetables had been boiled to death and were tasteless and the roast potatoes were burned and soggy. The boiled potatoes were dry (some butter might liven them up?) and the gravy was so watery it drowned an already extremely bland meal.
The puddings were probably the best course, the plum torte was tasty, but unfortunately the damage had already been done.
I find it such a shame that a restaurant with such a fantastic location is marred by such poor quality food. I hope that you will take what I say as constructive criticism as I’m sure changing a few practises will ensure that Sunday is full of bookings and satisfied customers.
