Just read the previous reviews and have to say I thoroughly endorse Mr Savill's opinion, if I had know this site existed at the time I went would have left a review immediately. I visited this restaurant with 5 friends and we were all really looking forward to a good night out, on entry the general impression was good but this soon changed. After a wait of approximately 45 minutes a waitress with an IQ of approximately 10 came to take our order. The two vegetarians in the party who didn't want the only vegetarian starter of soup had to ask if there was an alternative - this was a mushroom stuffed with cheese, edible but bitter and lacking in flavour. The six main courses ordered were steak in sauce, apparently the sauce tasted like sugar and the meal was luke warm. Mussels, the only dish which was well received, Two lamb shanks served on heaps of mash which again were described as sweet and also tough and the two vegetarian options of Courgettes, or as the waitress called them Corjettas which were flavourless and so meagre that I went home and ate the left over poppadoms from my daughters takeaway. Our table was booked for 8pm and our main course was finally served at around 10pm, although the portions served had left us all hungry by this stage we were well past dessert and left, the first time ever we have left a restaurant without leaving a tip, a deliberate decision which earned us a dirty look from the guy on the till but having already paid an over inflated price for poor service, poor quality and scanty portions leaving a tip was not an option. As Mr Savill says do yourself a favour and try the Indian down the road or anywhere else in Cleethorpes come to that, this one is definitely best avoided.

Obviously Mr Saville has experienced the cuisine in Chelsea all too often! With all due respect, he either visited a different Riverside or is from another planet. The staff in my humble opinion were extremely helpful, friendly and above all knowledgeable about the food and wine available on the menu. The ambience of the Riverside Restaurant is excellent, nicely laid out and comfortable, modern without being pretentious. I had three courses all cooked to perfection. The only critisism I would have is that the menu is limited, however, there is just about enough to satisfy most tastes (with the exception of Mr Saville!). Having said that if Mr Saville rates the Curry houses in Cleethorpes then his palet is not to be trusted!!! Go to Bradford Mr Saville and you will be educated. My advise is go and try the Riverside yourself. It's not cheap, but it is worth every penny. Make your own mind up.

DDM Residential works leaving party. Fourteen attended. Read the previous review after booking but still decided to try. Excellent food and service. Would definitely recommend and go again. Front of house very professional. Nice areas to have drinks before dining. Reasonably priced.

Generally the Riverside is a very poorly run restuarant offering overpriced meals served by staff whose training dreadful. There was no vegetarian option on the menu, but we were offered pasta with pesto ,dull or what ? frankly, if thats the best the chef could dream up , he or she is in the wrong job. { I had to ask for some parmesan cheese on it, the waitress had to go and ask in the kitchen if such an outlandish request could be accomodated]. My companions chose duck with raspberry sauce which Im told was very good although all complained that the portion sizes were very mean to say the least. This seems to be another restuarant trying to pretend its in Chelsea, charging London prices for pretentous food and hoping us poor punters wont notice that we are being ripped off. Fifteen quid for a bowl of pasta in Cleethorpes? someone is coining it in ! Do yourselves and your wallet a big favour and try the Indian down the road. No, its not as swanky, but at least you dont leave feeling like youve been mugged.
