Where to start? We got to the restaurant on Christmas day, shortly after 1 o'clock. As we walked past the Martello tower we were looking forward to the view, which did not disappoint. We had paid £40 per head (not including drinks), this and the menu were settled in advance. On entering we were surprised to see that the place was jam packed, mainly with senior citizens. We arrived at our table and were rather surprised to note that there was a leak from the ceiling onto the next table, but no-one seemed to have complained. We went to order a drink at the bar, as there was no table service. Having queued for sometime we were a little under-awed at the wine list, which resembled something one might expect of a Berni Inn c 1975. So we paid for our Piersporter, only to be find there were no wine glasses left.We then asked for a jug of water, to be told 'no, everyone will want one' we asked for and got 2 glasses of water instead! Having returned to our table, still glassless, we were eventually given half-pint glasses!
Our soup arrived, served by our waitress who was polite and helpful. Despite the pre-ordering of the asparagus soup we were served luke warm tomato soup. Our waitress was surprised when we asked for bread , tho' not as surprised as us not to be offered it! We were eventually served a plate containing one slice of buttered bread. There were 4 in our party. It went from bad to worse, my partner's veggie dish was also 'off',he was eventually offered macaroni cheese, however when he took a forkful there was meat underneath, he sent it back and was grudgingly offered a refund. The other main courses were obviously pre-frozen and virtually inedible. The desserts were adequate but were nothing really to write home about.
All in all, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life, and I wouldn't even recommend The Wish Tower to my worst enemy.
Please avoid at all costs!

I would never return to this place. It has a lovely position on the seafront, but the staff are surly and what seemed to be the manager was a perfectly objectionable little man, who at closing time, screamed at us...yes, quite literally... GET OUT, I WANT TO GO HOME I have never before been quite so disgusted...I am in my forties, but there were pensioners there who were quite alarmed. I am in the process of making a complaint to the management as I think there is no possible excuse...is this how we wish our country to be portrayed to foreign visitors?
