Superb Autumn fare what a great find! My wife & I were visiting friends in skipton & decided to treat them to dinner. we booked our table for 7.45pm & were greated by a very polite young man who took our coats & provided us with menus a wine list & explained the extensive specials board. we just had enough time to have a pre dinner drink & were then moved into the bustling restaurant shown to our table I chose smoked haddock tart our friends both chose the wild pigeon breast with bubble & squeak & my wife chose the moules all very tasty. I followed on with a medium rare rib eye steak my wife had the oven roasted lamb rump our friends chose the red deer venison & the duck breast all our dishes were cooked to perfection & served with delicate sauces that complemented the dishes perfectly & superb seasonal vegetables. complemented with a couple of bottles of chateau Musar We could'nt manage a dessert but they were all vey tempting we finished off with a very good cup of coffee. it is very rare that a restaurant ticks all the boxes but this one ticks all ours When we are next in the skipton area we will certainly be making a return visit

We visited this restaurant after it was recommended to us. We arrived at 8.30pm on the Friday evening, without a booking, and had no trouble getting a table - the place was half empty. We were shown to a table given a menu and ordered two glasses of house red - which was fairly mundane. I ordered calves liver and my partner had the chicken breast, considering they weren't very busy it took 40 minutes for the meal to arrive and when it did I had three very small pieces of liver and a tiny piece of crispy bacon all sitting on a splodge of very watery mashed potatoes. My partner's meal was very dry and overcooked, we also waited another 5 minutes for them to produce the vegetables which for the two of us consisted of 1 piece of broccoli, 1 piece of cauliflower, 2 baby sweet corn, a few slivers of carrots and a few slivers of green beans - the meal was anything but enjoyable, at no time were we offered bread rolls although other tables had them served up as they sat down. A very disappointing experience and I would not recommend this restaurant.
