No, it does not claim to be authentic. The chef is Welsh. However, I enjoyed the meal even if one of the waitresses was very off-hand. The others were delightful.
If you know and like true Italy, you can actually ask for pasta without tomato and they will co-operate.
The meats on the anti-pasto were very nice but there was far too much rabbit food compared to a similar dish in Toscana.
They have a very extensive wine list but you must ask for their special wine menu.
It may not be ultimate fine dining, but I received well prepared dishes exactly as I ordered them.

Website looked great. Made a booking and was promised a table with great views (quote made by male restaurant employee 'my favourite table'). On arrival no one seemed to care and given 'reserved' table in bar area since upper bistro space was full. Starters were 'ok'. Filet steak (requested medium) was burnt on one side but served with good looking part up (how clever!). Home made desert was simply a tasteless disaster. Food can be sometimes wrong on the night which I am prepared to forgive. But taking the p*** with bookings is simply not on. Needless to report, never again!

The restaurant itself has a lovely warm appearance. The staff meets you with a smile & makes you feel very welcome.
I very much enjoyed my visit to Cecchinis & would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the town of Ayr, Ayrshire.
The muscles were to die for, fantastic!
