I made an appointment to have my cholesterol checked on 10.10.2011. I also asked for an appointment with a GP to discuss the results. I was told to make a GP appointment for the following week when I came to have blood taken. I was not offered a telephone consultation.
I was also not told this was an open surgery and would have to wait, in this instance, 55 minutes to be seen.
This was an appointment specifically made to discuss cholesterol results, with a GP, from a test taken the week before. The cholesterol check had not been done. This was therefore a waste of an appointment,a blood test having to be repeated a telephone consultation being organised, and NHS resources.
I worked as a receptionist/secretary in a Midlothian practice for 17 years and not once, to my knowledge, did a patient have to wait 55 minutes to be seen.
I, at the moment, do not feel very confident or comfortable with the situation. I personally feel that seeing different doctors makes it difficult for any continuity, as in my case I have seen three different doctors and each time they did not seem to be aware of what was happening.
I would like some feedback on this comment. It is always interesting to hear the other side.
