My husband has travelled extensively over the world and based upon his vast experience, he selected the Greyhound Inn as the optimal place to introduce me to my first experience in the UK. We arrived at the Greyhound: a charming inn which is embued in history, and were greeted warmly. Our elegant room, named after Judge Jeffrey (the hanging judge!) was beautiful. With high ceilings and ancient exposed beams, it was spacious and airy. The modern roomy bathroom featured a lovely bathtub and a little surprise - deliciously heated luxurious towels. With an historic ambience, the Greyhound Inn was complete with creaky floors which must have been there for hundreds of years.
After a good night's sleep in the comfortable large bed, we were treated to a nice fresh breakfast in the dining room. As an American used to Starbucks Grandes, and inexperienced in British ways where coffee is brewed not in a pot, but individually, I kept our hostess busy making cup after cup of coffee, which she did with good humor.
We happened to be staying at the Greyhound during one of the World Cup games between England and the USA. The crowd in the bar was enthusiastic and it was fun to experience this event with the friendly local customers. Despite meeting the needs of a crowd of thirsty sports fans, the kitchen was able to accommodate our order for dinner, and we dined on the outdoor patio and thoroughly enjoyed our delicious meal.
The Greyhound offered a charming blend of the best of historic architecture and modern conveniences and was clean and neat. The staff was delightful, friendly and helpful, and the food was exceptional.
What a fantastic place to experience my first taste of the UK. I would highly recommend this lovely experience to all!

Im afaid I have to agree with Alice, Zoe and Nick were so nice, Gary is a bit much, The Greyhound isnt ment to be like a vegas show,i always felt more relaxed when Nick and Zoe were there. The food has got real bad in the past year aswell,Im all for change but I have to say the Greyhound was the place to be 2years ago not so much anymore!! Bring back Nick and Zoe.

Good Points: Easy to find. Nice rooms. Good facilities. Good breakfast.
General review: A nice small and friendly accommodation in a lovely location. Good facilities, nice rooms, and nice food. Would definitely stay here again.

What a fantastic pub! I have been coming here for years and it just keeps getting better. Gary is a superb host. It was a shame they lost that hansome New Zealand lad but I hear he is coming back in the new year. Don't worry the other reviews they can't even spell customers. They must be just jealous cause they don't the staffs charm and wit. Remember this place is a pub not the ritz. Enjoy this entertaing atomsphere.

Bring back Nick and Zoe they were so friendy and always looked after their costumers staff seemed a lot happier to. Sorry to say but this pub is getting worse by the day get it sorted or soon enough you will loose all of your best costumers
