first on all id like to ask mrs sutton if shes ever worked in a kitchen? and if she loves salt, maybe get a bag of peanuts next time! The pub was fantastic from beers to deserts.....i had crispy duck pancakes for starter which was a brilliant take on the chinese favourite....for mains i had the lamb shoulder...a special, unique dish! overall a first class restaurant 10/10

It was at least 20 years since we had vistited this pub for a meal, and the food was always first class in the early eighties. but hhave got to say, I was quite disappointed on this visit.
For starters I had belly pork with a soya crust and scallops, the scallops were very nice, but the soya crust on the pork was very very salty and I love salt., My husband asked for his steak well done and when it arrived it was rare, we sent it back and it wasn't inthe kitchen long enough to have been cooked further, and my husband thinks they had just cut off the bits that were rare. The staff were very polite and obliging but I wouldnt go there again, the years haven't improved it.

My wife and I haven,t been to this pub in about 18yrs mainly because the beer was rubbish along with the service.
Things have changed I had carrot and orange soup with hot brown crusty bread with butter,To die for.then ther Fish and Chips were a delight,my wife then had Rhubarb cruble with custard, again to die foe.I had a few oints of Black Sheep bitter, worth every penny. We will be going again
15 out of 10,Well Done.

Consistantly good food at sensible prices, served by staff who take a pride in being polite and friendly. Well done. Sunday lunch has two booking times 12.30 and 2.30. Well worth trying, pleasant Bar. Can be a little noisy in the restaurant.

Georgeous fresh food. What a refreshing change to the fried or microwaved rubbish on offer elsewhere.

At last somewhere in Wakefield which produces excellent home produced food-not frozen -using good quality ingredients.Booking is recommended even through the week but a real treat.Forget the many overpriced italian restaurants in the area,no comparison.Good wine list too!!
