we booked a couple of nights at this Hotel and didn't really know what to expect. The Hotel was easy to find and has a small and "tight" carpark which is on a slope. We got parked easily as the hotel wasn't very busy when we arrived but events did go on whilst we stayed and the carpark did get full. The Hotel itself is a beautiful building - there are some huge Hotels in Harrogate but I would say good things come in small packages. We were greeted by a very friendly member of staff who checked us in and gave us a tour. The Hotel has a function room which seems to get quite a bit of use,a lounge with real fire, a bar which isn't too inviting but what the bar lacks the restaurant makes up for!It is a really beautiful, sunny room. We were taken downstairs to our room (number 4) and so suprised at the quality of the room. It was a good size,it had a well lit desk, chair and hairdryer, bedside cabinets, a wardrobe, table, 2 chairs, trouser press,TV/DVD. The ceiling lighting was all spotlights with dimmers and the deco very modern and fresh. The bed was fantastic - HUGE - with crisp white feathersoft and very comfortable bedding (heated blankets on beds if needed).Tea,coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits and kettle were all provided. The room had plenty of windows, all of which opened / closed with ease. The bathroom was more of the same quality. A big corner shower (big enough for 2)with double opening doors so easy to get in and out. Opposite the shower is a big bath (big enough for 2). The sink is big and modern and the loo modern. The bathroom suite is white and very clean and the walls, rather than tiles is a pale gray panelling. A basket of shampoo and so on is provided. The bathtowels are thick, white, clean and plentiful. Breakfast is served in the beautiful restuarant. A table is set with orange and apple juice, skimmed and semi skimmed mild, yoghurt, prunes, bananna chips, fresh grapefruit segments, fresh fruit and various cereals. The waitress was very friendly and took our breakfast order for our hot breakfasts, which had all the usual English Breakfast goodies with choice of freid, scambled or poached eggs , you can choose what type of bread you would like toasting, you can also have kippers. We stuck to toast and cooked breakfasts and can't fault any of it. The jams and marmalades are local which is a nice touch. The quality of the bacon and sausages (2)also came across as high quality and not supermarket, mass produced rubbish. The breakfast was cooked just right crispy bacon (2 slices) and fried eggs (2) cooked to perfection with great dippy yolks. The location of the Hotel is spot on for a short 10 minute stroll into the centre (you won't be able to miss the souless looking Holiday Inn). The Hotel also has lots of leaflets and guides in receptions so there is lots of local info to hand. A great little Hotel - we can't wait to go back
