Lovely Inn, brilliant food and reasonably priced accomodation. The staff were courteous and helpful even to the extent of starting breakfast especially for us at 6.30am because we had a flight to catch. Room was quite small and basic but very clean (don't expect five star luxury for £55 a night!) and we spent most of our time there in the lounge and bar. Probably not a place for those who like the corporate chain style hotels, but it was cosy, friendly and very good value for money. Would definitely stay again especially if travelling to/from Gatwick as is 30/40 mins drive away but not in the flight path, a peaceful Sussex village

First of all, I would say the rooms were about average for the price we paid. My colleague didn't have a remote for his TV (room 8) and the bathroom blind was broken in my room, and the sink was loosely attached to the wall. (Room 9). The kettle worked, and there was plenty of milk and teabags provided. My colleague and I stayed here for 1 night, had a nice evening meal in the restaurant and a couple of drinks. There was only the two of us staying in the hotel (possibly a warning sign?). Before retiring for the evening, we asked what time breakfast was and were told 7.30-9am, as our meeting 2 miles away was not until 11.30am, we said we would be down at 9. The landlord seemed happy with this and even commented as it meant he could have a lie in. In the morning, we went down at 9am, to be told by the lady behind the bar we had missed breakfast, after a discussion, she then agreed to make breakfast (storming into the kitchen and slamming the door). At this point we transferred our bags to the car. While walking back in, we saw the lady who had just agreed to cook getting into her car and leaving the car park in a big shower of gravel.. On returning to reception, the man from behind the bar, who we had made the arrangement with the previous evening with then informed us that breakfast would not be available after all, and presented us with our bill. When asked if he would make an allowance for not providing breakfast, we were thrown out and told to "P*$% OFF". It was a pure Fawlty Towers scene, just Manuel was missing! We are both still stunned at this appalling level of customer service.
