The first thing that shocks about the Seven Stars is the price, around 10% more expensive than more upmarket pubs around the area and around 40p can be saved by walking almost as many feet to another establishment.
However, the beer does taste better there or atleast seems to, the barstaff seem a bit gloomy and the friday night that used to feel like a police themed evening has stopped after less of its very young clientel have moved on and the punch-ups with them.
A poor choice of beers and ales and shorts are almost £5 with mixers. Good for watching a match and Newcastle away games are always busy in there although if recovering from a heavy night with a soft-drink a pint of lemon and lime is £2.80.
Sorry to dwell on the price but it seems to be the outstanding feature in what could be, excusing the poor selection of Salvador Dali prints, a lovely pub.
