My wife and I found the cottage very well appointed, clean and warm. The landlord, landlady and staff in the Milecastle Inn next door were very friendly and we enjoyed our meals there. Lovely view of Hadrians wall and Roman milecastle from the cottage. Would highly reccommend and look foreward to our next visit

I recently spent two nights in a nearby B&B - an excellent B&B - and the Milecastle Inn was recommended for a meal. The Inn itself was quite nice, comfortable and the staff were pleasant. Our B&B hosts are regulars there and they clearly like the place and given how very nice they were I think this must count for something - however I was disappointed by the meal. The price was ok but the meal I had (seafood medley) had the feel of a pre-prepared meal and was very average with the seafood being all fish and all breaded and the vegetables uninspired. The meal wasn't bad but it wasn't good either and we did not go back. That said I probably would return for an evening drink if at the B&B again.

We stayed in the Milecastle Inn cottage for 3 nights. Very clean, warm and cosy, and the views of Hadrians Wall from the cottage windows are fantastic. We dined at the Milecastle Inn during our stay and the meal was really good, lovely traditional pub serving excellent real ales. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, especially Clare(landlady) who reccommended Vindolanda (roman Museum) well worth a visit. Thanks again to all at The Milecastle. We will be back next summer.

We booked three nights in the cottages at the Milecastle Inn and we were very pleased with the accommodation. The cottages are only about a year old and the furnishing and fittings are still very new and fresh. Everything that we could have wanted was there plus tea, coffee, biscuits and milk and domestic stuff like washing up liquid. The bed was comfortable, the shower was powerful and the scenery is fantastic. The cottage is small but for two people it just felt romantic. The staff at the Inn are friendly and helpful and the farm shop just up the road (Herding Hill) has outstanding meat. Pity about the weather...

Lovely traditional pub on Hadrians Wall. we had been out walking with friends over the easter weekend and decided to have a meal at the pub. Large menu with a good variety. I had the cumberland sausage with fresh vegetables and chips with homemade gravy. It was fantastic. I would definitly reccommend having a meal here. I was also invited to have a look around the newly built holiday cottages and they were great. I had a sneeky peek in the visitors book and it was full of lovely comments. You can tell they had been finished to a high standard with views over hadrians wall i will be returning in the summer with my family. Reccommended to all. Mr King Lancaster

The menu was a wide selection and seemed a value for money however the sandwiches that were not on the menu were over £5 for 2 slices of bread with a small filling, salad and a few crisps, obviousally they dont enjoy making them and try to put people off buying them, it would have being cheaper to buy a childs meal but i only wanted a light snack. the cottages look lovely on the pictures yet i had seen inside and the pictures are deciving, they are of ok quality but are very small indeed.

The person who wrote the review on the 16th February was very loud and abusive it was evident that she had been drinking prior to arrival. They were asked by the waitress if everything was alright and twice they said yes but continued to complain between themselves loudly. Two other diners left the dining room and finished their drinks in the bar saying that their meal had been excellent but were embarrased to stay. I asked what the problem was and they said it was cold but the heaters were on,they said the meal was rubbish even though the man had cleaned his plate and the female kept on eating all the time she was complaining. I welcome reviews and I would be the first to admit if something wasn't up to standard but these complaints weren't justified. Booked an evening meal on sunday 17th feb for 8pm. The place was cold, uninviting and the meal was well below par for the cost. The staff were totally uninterested.Having travelled quite extensively, I can honestly say this was one of the worst places I have ever eaten.{made even worse by the fact it was my birthday}!!!
