This is a type of innovative Yoga that suits fit and healthy. A lot of ambition very little Yoga. Well known things like muscle chains introduced as a new method. Basics are ignored hence a beginner will be in a great danger to get an injury.

I have been attending Jonathan Monks' Yoga class for close to 4 years, and I have never ever experienced a better teacher, or a better yoga class. As a beginner, it was incredibly challenging to start, but due to his personal guidance/encouragement and challenging and varied classes (one class is never the same - other classes may claim this to be true, but it really is in Jonathan's case.) I persevered. Where other Yoga teachers had failed before, going to Jonathan's class soon became part of my week, and it would still have been had I not relocated elsewhere. Unfortunately, for me, I have not come across anyone to fill the gap since, so whenever I do return to London I will try and fit it around a day of class. And if bad reviews have scared some of you off, it just means there's more room for me, my mat and my fellow yogamonkeys ( :

A friend, Jonathan, mentioned the previous review and I feel it is important to mention that I agree with Jonathan that the yogamonks class I attended at Triyoga with a cover Beth was dire and the instructor Beth did not seem confident about what she was saying or doing. She came accross like a trainee instructor and out of place in the yoga centre which does host some great teachers.

I must have attended the same class as the class at Triyoga that I attended was covered by a Beth. I had a very different experience. Beth appeared confused as to what she was doing, might be due to the fact that she is a cover. Her constant talk was inaudible and what was heard was more conduicive to falling asleep. Another of the small class mentioned that she felt sorry for the girl as she was unable to answer basic yoga questions posed to her. It was a unique experience only in the fact that the other classes I've attended at triyoga have some intelligence. All yoga classes are different in some way but the claim by Beth that yogamonks is unique is bizarre as it was nothing special. The experience was of someone trying to teach a yoga class and the yogamonks class felt like it dragged. Noone in the class appeared to look peaceful in the experience.

I recently attended a yogamonks class at triyoga being covered by Beth and left feeling relaxed, smiley and ready to face the rest of my day. I found the yogamonks style very different from any other yoga class id attended before but was so suprised at how much i was able to feel inside, and the depth of flexibilty i reached. i got to was the farthest id ever before. The class was conversational which brought me out of my work-mind and into what i was feeling. Overall, the class was a very unique experience for me but i compelled to try next week as my body and mind stayed relaxed for several days after!

Recently attended a yogamonks class with Jonathan and left with a profound sense of stillness. The class gently brought me into feeling where i had blockages and with humour and playfulless i was able to relax my shoulders! a big achievement for me as i usually have so much tension here. The teacher instantly recognised an old elbow injury from my movements and was able to give me personal exercises at the end of the class. overall i would definately recommend this teacher

Something brought me to this website this evening (perhaps grace) and as recently attended a yogamonks class it seems appropriate to share. I attend many very good classes at triyoga (Rebecca, Graham and Cassandra) and i agree the yogamonks class is confused. I did not experience love empathy and grace from the instructor. The instructor came accross tortured - a bizarre experience! I wish him good health and yes that class at triyoga is not for me.

Jonathan Monks (Yogamonks) teaches with empathy, love and most certainly grace. As students to criticise his OR any other teachers' guidance is inappropriate-if its not the approach for us we walk away with good grace.

Not certain of the date - around the above. I agree with the other reviews. The yoga-pilates concept is done better elsewhere. If in the US check out Jonathan Urla. Jonathan Monks has a problem with other forms of yoga - as he spent the class critiscing others. He seems injured which might explain his wobbles in the yoga positions.

A confused class involving Jonathan (the yogamonks teacher) looking lost as he mutters to himself sue me. I do not know whether he is asking for someone to sue him because he knows the class is forlorn. Was anyone bothered enough to sue? The other reviews are useful.

the criticism the yoga teacher Jonathan Monks made of those in the class and other teachers is inappropriate. There are many great yoga teachers elsewhere in London.

Lacked Grace. Not reccomended. A preachy yoga, better off with a yoga DVD.
