We have been to the Wellington Arms Hotel on many occasions over the past few months for a bit of Sunday lunch and so we popped down again recently.
We entered the bar and asked for a seat and were told to take any one that was not marked reserved which we did. We were then approached by another waiter who asked how he could help. We requested menu's and were then informed that they were actually fully booked (the place was more than half empty). We pointed out that we had been told differently by another member of staff. The response was, '' well I am telling you differently, we are fully booked''. We left then.
So, is this hotel any good for eating? Frankly who cares. With staff as ignorant and rude as this, it really doesn't matter. We will take our business elsewhere.

We turned up out the blue on a busy Sunday lunchtime, we were passing on our way back from a wedding fayre and stopped to grab some lunch. The staff were really welcoming and managed to serve us a gorgeous lunch although they were fully booked. THey explained that they were fully booked and could only offer us the sofa, but it was fine. We only wanted a salad or sandwich so suited us perfectly. Very attentive waiters and good service. A little more expensive than other pubs but was well worth it. Highly recommend it! We had a chicken caesor salad and a club sandwich :-)
