Since the previous review, the owners have changed.
I would say that it is a fairly standard family pub with fairly standard food.

They didnt have the things we ordered, then we got served the wrong things, then we we served food that was beyond bland, then we were never asked if we wanted the desserts and ignored by the staff for the good hour...
By this stage our evening was pretty much ruined- unfortunately it happened to be my birthday as well.
In the end when we told the manager the night wasnt so much of a success-
he basically started arguing with us that "there was nothing wrong with the service"- and to my absolute shock/surprise we didnt even get an apology(let alone free desserts...)
Thanks black swan for trying your best to ruin my birthday. Needless to say I wont be coming back and will keep telling people travlling the dales "do not stop at black swan middleham!!!"
