The impressive landscapes of Torridon appealed to me from first sight, and I have kept returning. The romantic Loch Torridon Hotel won the top national hotel award with a huge public vote of confidence. Why? Well – it’s not an overtly posh place, and the owners are friendly, charming and know their business well. They achieve good levels of quality throughout without positioning their hotel at too rarified a level in terms of price or atmosphere. The house itself is inviting and quirky and has real warmth. The Activities Manager, Chris, is an experienced guy and his enthusiasm and knowledge will add to your stay. Food is good, am and pm, and there’s a wide selection of imbibable assets from which to experiment. The hotel gets the balance just about right and when you combine that with the setting – you find the reason for the success of the place. In 2002 David and Geraldine Gregory retired after 25 years in the hospitality industry and handed over the reins of the hotel to their daugher and son-in-law. It is clearly in good hands after their years of work building the place up.
