There are several very good pubs in Horstmonceux area and this is not one of them.Visited the pub on 4th.May,and although we booked ahead, the pub was understaffed, only one beer available,of a very poor standard, and the food and service was absolutely diabolical. This is definitely a "never again"pub.

Reserved a rm online and tel to confirm rq for quiet rm. Given rm number 10 directly over the function room which had loud music until 01.50 on sunday morning. Even with our tv on volume 30 had difficulty in hearing programmes over music Restaurant staff pleasant but forgot part of entree course and part of main course, waited 10 mins for each last part to arrive. Staff had they minds elsewhere. Due to the party, bar and lounge packed and could not find a space to have a drink afterwards, could not stay at restaurant table as staff wanted to lay for breakfast The Hotel is nice but do make sure they do not have a late night function on as you will not get any sleep until the early hours

Good Points: Good location. Bad Points: Check in poor. No explanation of how to operate lights, TV etc. General review: Rather noisy.
