We have been to this restaurant at least 10 times prior to it becoming more "delhi spice" than "Rose Inn" and our last visit will be just that, the last!! When we first started going the food was of superb quality, cooked to order using fresh ingredients and seasonal fayre, the service used to be impeccable and the welcome was hearty. Our latest visit was the complete opposite and, as many good chefs say "you're only as good as your last service" Hence the toilets get more stars as they are always clean and well stocked. Service was slow, confused and disjointed and we were greeted by being told to wait in limbo as the waiter zipped off to the kitchens to sort out a takeaway order (a new and unwelcome addition to the original Rose Inn) We eventually took our seats (paper napkins) and picked up our poorly spelt menus which we now realise was the shape of things to come. What else? At one point we considered ringing the takeway service and asking them to deliver to our table as we were continually watching that food leaving the kitchen before ours and we would have ended up with hot food delivered at the same time instead the food came out in no particular order, was incomplete and, at best, warm. Overall the plates had more heat than the food and our first attempt to request replacement hot food resulted in the originals being microwaved, including the salad side dressing!!!! We eventually gave up and will not be venturing out to Bearsted in the future when Maidstone has much better restaurants to offer
