Stayed on five separate occasions in various seasons, once with a guide dog puppy as we are "puppy walkers". Have always enjoyed our stays, the staff have been helpful and friendly. We have always enjoyed the food that has been prepared and we will certainly be returning.

We were both very disapointed with the service we received at this hotel. It was very badly organised and the staff were very immature with not much customer service skills. No effort was made to ensure we had a pleasant stay and at £180 for a weekend break we left feeling very let down.

This hotel is set in a lovely area of cumbria and is ideal as a base for travelling around the area. The rooms are decorated nicely and i found the staff helpful and polite. Some of the rooms overlook the bin/kitchen area but at an extra charge a lakeview can be obtained. The food was of a high standard and well presented.Well worth a visit!

Our room was very dark and hot so I opened the window. When you open the windows the view from the rear facing rooms is of the kitchen and the bins. The kitchen fans expel the smell of food cooking into your rooms and the noise from both the fans and the kitchen staff is unbelievable.
The staff were less than helpful when I asked to change rooms. The on-suite bathrooms are far from the standard you would expect from an AA 3 star hotel, in fact you will be lucky to get a shower that works. When questioned about this I heard the manager tell one couple "I would have to work 24 hours tell deal with everyones problems" Breakfast on the Saturday was cold and on the Sunday morning we walked out after waiting for 45 minutes. Pets are welcome and you can tell. Your keys are to be left at reception when leaving the hotel and easy to find on your return, as they are left on the unmanned reception desk. Very poor for £100 a night
